South Adelaide jumped back into the top six, with an impressive 4-0 away win at Cumberland last round, with Liam Wooding and Jonathan Rideout hitting form. Earlier in the season, South Adelaide came away with a 2-1 win over Raiders, but the Croatians will be up to the task, needing a victory to move further away from relegation.

Croydon vs Cumberland United

Cumberland have lost five of their last six matches to continue their slide down the ladder after an impressive start to the season. They face a Croydon side who just haven’t been able to get the win over their opponents, with four draws in their last six matches. Croydon currently sit in one of the relegation spots, after losing last week to Comets, and being handed a big 4-1 loss over Adelaide Olympic midweek.

Campbelltown City vs Adelaide Comets

Sat 14 Aug - 3:00PM

Steve Woodcock Centre, Newton

Referee – Curtis Wordsworth

Head to Head - First Division League (1980-2021)

Head to Head - First Division League @ Steve Woodcock (1980-2021)

9 meetings (Campbelltown 5 wins, Comets 3 wins, Draws 1)

If you’re a neutral, this is a must watch encounter. These two sides have been the best teams over the past few seasons, which saw Campbelltown beat Comets in the last two Grand Finals. Their round 6 clash this season, saw Campbelltown sneak through with a 1-0 victory in what was one of the matches of the season. Campbelltown hold the wood in the last five League matches, winning four of those clashes. Young Comets’ defenders Nathan Dimou and Thomas Giannakopoulos continued to impress this season.

Adelaide Blue Eagles vs MetroStars

Sat 14 Aug - 3:00PM

Marden Sports Complex, Marden

Referee – Andrew Kite

Head to Head - First Division League (1980-2021)

41 meetings (Blue Eagles 16 wins, MetroStars 16 wins, Draws 9)

Head to Head - First Division League @ Marden (1980-2021)

20 meetings (Blue Eagles 8 wins, MetroStars 9 wins, Draws 3)

MetroStars continue to be the surprise packet this season, especially after their 3-0 win over Campbelltown last week. Despite missing half a dozen key experienced players, the young brigade have stepped up for the side, including Connor O'Rielly, Ariath Piol, Cooper O’Donnell and Alessio Melisi. After a slow start to the season, MetroStars have won 6 of their last 7 league matches this season. On the other side, Blue Eagles have struggled to put together a result to get their first win of the season, and with eight matches remaining in the season, will need to start winning to avoid relegation.

Sturt Lions vs Adelaide United

Sat 14 Aug - 3:00PM

West Beach Centre, West Beach

Referee – Daniel Goodwin

Head to Head - First Division League (1980-2021)

3 meetings (Sturt 1 win, Adel Utd 1 win, Draws 1)

Head to Head - First Division League @ West Beach (1980-2021)

1 meeting (Sturt 1 win)

Sturt Lions are currently on a five match unbeaten run, and picked up a huge 4-1 win over Croatia last week, with new recruit Michael Marrone getting on the scoresheet. Alex Sortini bagged a double in that match, as they remained in the top 6. Adelaide United will be looking to bounce back from their 3-0 loss midweek to Campbelltown.

Adelaide City vs Adelaide Olympic

Sat 14 Aug - 5:00PM

Adelaide City Park, Oakden

Referee – Gary Mooney

Head to Head - First Division League (1980-2021)

23 meetings (Adel City 12 wins, Olympic 6 wins, Draws 5)

Head to Head - First Division League @ Adelaide City Park (1980-2021)

10 meetings (Adel City 7 wins, Olympic 1 wins, Draws 2)

This match is set to be a cracker between two of the most inform teams of the competition. Olympic are riding high after two impressive wins over Adelaide Blue Eagles (4-2) and a 4-1 win over Croydon midweek, with Fausto Erba in great form this season. Adelaide City continues to lead the pack, and with young talents Asad Kasumovic and Kur Kur giving headaches to defenders, Olympic’s back line will need to be on their game.

Meanwhile, State League 2 player Dayle Anderson (Seaford Rangers) is set to play his 200th game in his next match.
